Field Trip to Nehru Planetarium
Mast.Jayden Machado Std 8 D
Students of Std 8 of Don Bosco, Matunga visited the Nehru Planetarium on Thursday, September 26th 2019 on a field trip. The visit was welcomed by all the boys as it gave them an opportunity to interact with each other and their teachers outside the boundaries of the classroom. The trip served as an edutainment enhancing classroom learning and helping the students make connections between text material and the real world. The teachers had informed the students in advance to carry along a notebook and pen as they would need to take down notes and answer a review paper the next day to ensure and cement the information gathered on the trip visually and to thus actively integrate it into the curriculum.
The students were instructed to reach the school premises at 8.30am sharp- attendance was taken by the teachers. Ms. Sydelle Mascarenhas recited a prayer before the multitude moved to the buses. The buses left school at 9am and headed to the Nehru Planetarium. On entering the site, the students were literally greeted by a statue of Gallileo Gillbert. A guide took them through an OHP presentation on the Solar system and well-known Mars Mission “Mangalyan”. The students along with their teachers proceeded to the Sky theatre to watch another show on the Space bodies, comets and stars which proved to be educative. The trip concluded with a photography session of the students and the teachers as a memory of the exciting trip as they headed back to school by 1.05pm.
