To Be A Passionate Indian:Republic Day
By : KARTHIK RAAMAKRISHNA
The patriotic call of Vande Mataram reached a crescendo as the Republic Day celebrations got off to a start at the campus of Don Bosco High School, Matunga. The students of the secondary section turned out in large numbers expressing solidarity on this auspicious occasion. The tricolour was unfurled by the silver jubilarians of the school. The NCC and the RSP cadets joined the students to salute the national flag and sing the national anthem in chorus.
The students of class 8D presented their assembly based on the theme clearly spelt out on the backdrop ‘Salute the real heroes’. The students depicted the struggles faced by our frontline unsung heroes while maintaining the sanctity of defence operations to protect the nation. Patriotic songs and dances were performed by students amidst loud cheers from the audience.
Fr.Principal exhorted the students to be passionate and get fully involved in all their activities by saying that passion must be nurtured and not hidden under a bushel. He also lauded the sacrifices of the unsung soldiers while discharging their duties. The prize distribution was then conducted to felicitate the meritorious students for their commendable achievements in academics, sports, music and other extra-curricular activities.
While the Staff and students paid respect to their nation at school, the school scouts represented the school at the BIRD Republic Day parade held at Bandstand, Bandra.
